Carol Ann Whaley Jefferson
Sunrise – March 4, 1948, White Plains, New York to the late Edward and Dorothy (Ann) Mills Whaley.
Sunset – September 17, 2013, 12:25am. After a seven month battle with respiratory and cardiac distress, she succumbed to cardiac arrest at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, New York. Her life was sustained by mechanical ventilation at the Dumont Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Carol attended the City of White Plains Schools graduating in 1966 from the high school. She spent the majority of her adult life as a resident of White Plains. She went to work at New York Telephone Company and retired from Verizon Telecommunications.
Carol is survived by her son DaVonn Alexander Jefferson of White Plains, NY, daughter Donya Renee (Jefferson) Smith and daughter in-law Francine Denise Smith of Bronx, NY, granddaughters Janay Nicole Brunson of College Park, MD and Jocelyn Nereida Gonzalez Jefferson of Greenwich, CT.
At 65 years old, she lived the life she wanted to live doing the things she loved to do. Her hobbies included knitting for the homeless and traveling with lifelong friends. She enjoyed watching movies, relaxing and she was a diehard New York Knicks fan.
We the family would like to invite all friends and family members to upload their condolences and fond memories of the special times you shared with our mother which will later be printed out as a keepsake for the family. We will be learning more about her past life through Carol’s “Book of Memories” that we will treasure forever.
