Virginia Elizabeth Caise Sledge was born August 5th, 1933 to John Elmer Caise and Katie Creth Caise in Versailles, Kentucky. She went on to eternal rest November 24, 2015 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY after a long battle with cancer.
After graduating Simmons High School in Versailles KY, class of 1952, Virginia went on to Central State University in Ohio where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1957. Upon graduating Central State she moved to White Plains, NY where she resided until her passing.
She met her late husband, Oliver Sledge, in 1959 and they were wed in 1960. They were married for 37 years until his passing in 1997. They had one son, Jeffrey.
Virginia loved God, family, and children. She was a teacher in the White Plains Public School system for over 30 years and specialized in work with children with Special needs. She also taught Sunday school for many years and was a proud member of the Voices Of Bethel and the Missionary Ministry.
Later in life Virginia became an avid Tennis fan, bought on by her love for Venus and Serena Williams. She subscribed to various Tennis magazines and one of her favorite days was attending the US Open.
She is survived by her son Jeffrey, grandson Julian Sledge, daughter in law Contessa Sledge, four siblings (Anna Katherine Caise of Versailles KY, Paul Caise of Lexington KY, Martha Robinson of Berkley CA, and Mary Ough of Berkley CA) several nieces and nephews, cousins, and extremely close friends.
