On July 1st 1925, Mary Bell Cooper was born in Tuskegee, Alabama. She departed this well lived life on February 2nd, 2016 in White Plains, New York.
Mary attended School for cosmetology and then started to do hair within her house. However her heart lead her to support her community. Outside of being a full-time mother and grandmother, she was a school bus driver for Southern Westchester BOCES and she volunteered at the local food pantry in White Plains, NY. As an advocate for her neighbors, she served as president of the White Plains Tenant Council for 3 years. Mary was a long time member of St. Francis & St. Martha’s Church where she assisted with the Sunday School children and was a frequent worker of the Church’s annual Barbecues and other festivities. Adding to the long list of Mary’s attributes she was also a long time member of the Rosebud Temple #297 and she also served for some time in the Grand Assistant Directress Gift Giving Department.
Ms. Mary Bell Cooper leaves behind to cherish her memory: Daughter Carol Cooper-Minton (deceased); Her son in-law Lance Minton Sr. and God-Son Lawrence Irving Johnson; Grandchildren: Eboné Minton-Jones, Britney Minton-Escourse, Lance Minton Jr., Asia Minton, Devon Minton, & Chareé Minton; Great-grandsons Marquis Gourdine and Christopher Nordman; Great–granddaughter Andi Escourse, along with many friends and neighbors.
