Obituary for Leon Jones

LEON JONES peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 1, 2022. He was 87 years old. Leon was born in White Plains, New York on July 14, 1935 to William and Leola Jones. He was the second of three sons born from this union.

Leon was a White Plains High School graduate and later served in the US Air Force Reserves. He was the owner of Bob's Auto Body Shop in White Plains, NY, serving countless customers in Westchester County and beyond for over 50 years. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in White Plains. Leon enjoyed spending endless time at his shop working and talking with customers and anyone who happily stopped by just to say hello. In his lifetime, Leon had a passion for cars, travel, boating, fishing, and collecting guitars. He especially loved singing and playing on those guitars. A hardworking personable man, who was also kind and generous, Leon was well known in the community and loved by many. Leon loved his family and would often say he was a blessed man. He was very thankful to God for the love and support he received from family and friends.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, William and Leola Jones and his two brothers, William Jones, Jr. and Leroy Jones. Leon leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Rita Jones, and their three children, Tyrone Jones (fiancée, Shawn), Kristopher Jones (wife, Megan), and Maiysha Jones Reilly (husband, Dameon); and from his former wife, Rosamae Sims (deceased), their four daughters, Frances Brown (husband, Douglas), Leola Jones Harris (fiancé, Mitchell), Tina Leon (husband, Juan) and Kechia Burgh (husband, Curtis); his 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

We want to acknowledge and thank Sampson Hilton(Marcellus), for faithfully working by Leon's side for 35 years. In Leon's words, "He's just like a son".

Leon will be missed by all and will always hold a special place in our hearts!

Special thanks to the staff at White Plains Hospital, White Plains, New York, and Montefiore Hospital (Moses Center/Palliative Care), Bronx, New York who attentively cared for Leon in his final days. We are forever thankful.

ATTENTION: During the continuing COVID-19 crisis, as we slowly phase back into smaller capacity public visitations/services, we need your help in limiting and controlling the number of people inside the funeral home & church, so please govern yourself accordingly for the health & safety of all. Thank you so kindly!

A Walk-Thru Wake/Visitation/Viewing will be held on Thurs. Dec. 8th from 4:00-7:00PM at Lee's Funeral Home, LLC with a MAXIMUM CAPACITY of 80 people at funeral home at any time, and then a Funeral Service on Friday Dec. 9th at 10:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church. But the church will be live-streaming the service on Friday, also available on our website where it says WATCH WEBCAST, so you're able to view there/here on Friday also/instead. So you may come to the funeral home to attend, wearing a mask. At the very least you can get hand sanitizer and sign the family register book (NOTE: please bring your own pen to sign). If not at capacity, you may have a seat, being mindful of others & the nature of the time to allow for the most guests to enter/pay respects; but if at capacity by the time you get here, you will be required to leave the premises after signing register book, regardless of your relationship, so as not to be in violation nor cause a health hazard, so please govern yourself accordingly. Regardless of if you're able to enter/be seated, or not, social distancing MUST be maintained at All Times (please refrain from touching/hugging/handshaking, preferably just elbow bumping briefly if at all). If instructed, PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY leave the building & premises if either is at their restricted capacity. PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY follow & abide by the directions of the funeral home staff and/or church or cemetery personnel at all times. We Thank You in advance for following directions & any policies, so as to make all go smoothly the day of the services, to eliminate further burden on the family, and to maintain the health & safety of All. Any questions, or if any clarity is needed, please call ahead to the funeral home and/or church, and/or speak to us from a safe distance if present.
