Dorothy G. Young, a longtime resident of White Plains, NY passed away peacefully on September 22, 2022. She was born on May 30, 1932 to the late Benjamin and Minnie Mitchell in Valhalla, New York.

She was married to the late Clarence (Knobby) Young of New Rochelle, New York.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings the late Benjamin Mitchell, Mabel Chisholm & Hilda Potillo.

Dorothy graduated from White Plains High School class of 1956 and was a member of the Ambassador Drum Corp.
Dorothy had one of the oldest memberships of Mt. Hope A.M.E. Zion Church having started Sunday School when the church was on Winchester Street in White Plains.

She was employed at the Westchester-Putnam Affirmative Action under Paul Redd where she also wrote for the County Press. She was also Secretary of Kensico Cooperative Inc.
We can't forget her modeling days where she modeled for The Models' Guild of Westchester and The Freelancers. (Can someone say Tyra Banks Who?)

She was a devout and active member of Mt. Hope A.M.E. Zion Church where she served as a Financial Secretary, was a member on the Steward Board, President of the "Do Something About It" Committee, member of the Stoney Hill Cemetery Committee, and the Christian Education Board.

Dorothy, affectionately known as Dot, Dottie, and Aunt Dot, was an avid reader and a strong advocate for education. She also loved Music, Game Shows & Reality T.V. Although soft-spoken she conveyed her point with class and humility. Her warm and humorous personality made everyone feel special and welcomed. She was selfless and generous and loved immensely by her family, friends and the community.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a host of Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews, Great Grand Nieces and Great Grand Nephews, Cousins, a God-Daughter and many Friends.
