Obituary for Marilyn L. Stratford (Horton)

Marilyn Lucille Stratford

Marilyn was born February 13, 1934, in Port Chester Hospital to the late Harold and Mary Horton. She passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 31, 2022, in the town of Delaware.

Marilyn was raised in Mamaroneck, NY and went to Mary Potter Boarding School in North Carolina and
continued her education in Mamaroneck. She later married and had 10 children. Her Spouse William, for over 30 years, preceded her in death.

Marilyn relocated to Harlem where she hobbed Knob and rubbed elbows with some of the Jazz greats and
who’s who at the end of the day. She was also the life of the party. Marilyn then relocated to Brooklyn, NY
where she was a CNA & Caregiver for many years. After a time she raised her children in Brooklyn &
Staten, Island, NY.

Marilyn was an avid reader she was known to spend countless Hours in libraries and book stores. Marilyn
collected cookbooks where she enhanced her passion for cooking. Marilyn was a fashion plate, her favorite
pass time was shopping. Her favorite color was “yellow”, and her favorite saying later in life was “I GOT ALL MY FACILITIES”.

She leaves to mourn her sister Evelyn Tinsley; Her children Donna, Vikkita, Nannette (Samuel), Joseph
(Carlissa), Louis, Melody (who Preceded her in death), William, Alicia, Donald and Genine. She had 34
Grand children, 48 Great Grands (one who preceded her in death Eniyah), and 14 Great Great Grands. Marilyn also leaves to mourn a host of Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. One niece Noreen two nephews Carl Jr. and Adeyami who preceded her in death.

ATTENTION: During the continuing COVID-19 crisis, as we slowly begin to phase back into small capacity public visitations/services, we need your help in limiting and controlling the number of people inside our funeral home, so please govern yourself accordingly for the health & safety of all. A Walk-Thru Wake/Visitation/Viewing will be held on Thurs. 8/11 from 11:00AM-12:00PM, Service 12:00PM, with a MAXIMUM CAPACITY of 80 people at funeral home at any time. But the family will be live-streaming the service on ZOOM, also available on our website the day of the service where it says WATCH WEBCAST, so you're able to view there/here also/instead. So you may come to the funeral home to attend, wearing a mask. At the very least you can get hand sanitizer and sign the family register book (NOTE: please bring your own pen to sign). If not at capacity, you may have a seat; but if at capacity by the time you get here, you will be required to leave the premises after signing register book, regardless of your relationship, so as not to be in violation nor cause a health hazard, so please govern yourself accordingly. Regardless of if you're able to enter/be seated, or not, social distancing MUST be maintained at All Times (please refrain from touching/hugging/handshaking, preferably just elbow bumping briefly if at all). If instructed, PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY leave the building & premises if at our capacity and/or not in compliance with any of the above. PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY follow & abide by the directions of the funeral home staff and/or cemetery personnel at all times. You MUST come to the funeral home & cemetery wearing a mask, & wear a mask inside the funeral home/social distance as much as possible at all times. You must use hand sanitizer upon entering our funeral home. If you know you have/are under quarantine because of a coronovirus/COVID-19; are sick/experiencing symptoms of/been around anyone with any type of coronovirus/COVID-19; are immuno-compromised and/or have health/other conditions that make your body more susceptible to illness, please do NOT attend any services nor come into our funeral home. Please bring & use your own pen for signing the family's register book - you are encouraged to please BRING & use your own PEN for signing. Please follow & abide by the rules of our funeral home, and directions of the funeral home staff and/or cemetery personnel at all times.
