Obituary for Shelah Ann Tucker (Tucker)

Shelah Ann Tucker was born on March 17, 1952, the fourth of five children under the parentage of Stephney McCoy Tucker, Sr. and Ethel Hughes Tucker, in White Plains, NY (Greenburgh) where she resided until her demise.
Her education was in the Greenburgh District 7 Schools and furthered her education at Saints Junior College in Lexington, MS and Mercy College, White Plains, NY. She was the recipient of the Who’s Who Among Junior College Students Award.
Shelah’s work history consisted of owning Temple Church Supplies, a Christian book store which was located at Christ’s Temple, where she added a candy/snack store to service the neighborhood children. She was employed by the Greenburgh Parking District and retired from the Greenburgh Town Court as a court clerk, where she befriended and serviced her community.
As a child, she attended Greenburgh Community Methodist Church (Christ’s Temple) pastored by her father the late Bishop S.M. Tucker, Sr. She played a large role in assembling the stained glass windows that adorn the church today.
Shelah’s passion was writing poetry, songs and plays. She had a God-given ability to influence and magnetize, luring youth, young adults and seniors. She would load her car, a large rental or contract a bus for a road trip introducing others to a greater move of God.
Shelah later birthed Halehs Ministry. Resources where she created and published Christian and inspirational cards, books, booklets and other graphic works. She was such a talented mastermind. Her creativity never stopped. In her last days even while afflicted by a stroke, using one hand, she started writing books for each of her great nephews and niece, inclusive of their favorite things and their family history.
Shelah leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, Edward D. Tucker (Francis), Danville, VA, and Julius F. Tucker (Alberta), Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Eileen Tucker-Slaughter (David), White Plains, NY; one sister-in-law, Jacqueline Tucker, Sutherlin, VA; one brother and sister-in-love, George and Laurie Garrett, Elizabeth City, NC; seven nephews, Edward, Stephney III (Jane), Richard (Lauren) Todd, Kellen (Diamond), Aaron and Malcolm; three nieces, Shanon, Stephney, Debresha; and a host of great-nephews and nieces, great-great nephews and nieces, cousins, godchildren, adopted family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Bishop S.M. Tucker, Sr. and Ethel Hughes Tucker, and eldest brother, Stephney M. Tucker, Jr.
Shelah leaves an indelible legacy of love for her family, friends and the many other lives she touched.

A Visitation/Viewing/Wake will be held on Sat., 7/3 from 10:00-11:00AM; Funeral 11:00-12:30PM. But the church is live-streaming the service on ZOOM 627 257 8776, & is also available on our website where it says WATCH VIDEO, so you're able to view there/here also/instead, as there is LIMITED seating until the church is at their CAPACITY based on COVID restrictions & required social distancing. Regardless of if you're able to enter/be seated, or not, social distancing MUST be maintained as the church requires (please refrain from touching/hugging/handshaking, preferably just elbow bumping briefly if at all). If instructed, PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY leave the building & premises if the church is at their restricted capacity. PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY follow & abide by the directions of the funeral home staff and/or church or cemetery personnel at all times. We Thank You in advance for following directions & any laws, so as to make all go smoothly the day of the services, to eliminate further burden on the family, and to maintain the health & safety of All.
