Obituary for Mary Ann Hill (Jones)

“Jehovah is my shepherd. I will lack nothing. In grassy pastures he makes me lie down; He leads me to well-watered resting-places. He refreshes me. He leads me in the path of righteousness for the sake of his name. Though I walk in the valley of deep shadow, I fear no harm, for you are with me; Your rod and your staff reassure me.” ~Psalms 23:1-4

A Time To Be Born:
Mary Ann Hill was born on September 26, 1940, in Alberta, Virginia to the late Jennie Eva Hill Jones and Gilbert Jones. She was the sixth child out of seven children.

A Time To Live:
Mary was educated in the public schools of Lawrenceville, Virginia. She united in holy matrimony to Robert Fitzgerald Hill of Fayetteville, North Carolina, in the year 1959. To this union girls were born, Jennifer and Celeste.

A Time To Serve:
Having been reared in a family with strong religious bonds, Mary was introduced to the church and the values of Christianity at an early age. As a young adult, she devoted herself to Jehovah and became a Jehovah’s Witness.

Mary made the decision soon after high school to migrate to New York for more opportunities with other family members. She continued to self educate herself by taking typing classes and computer courses. Eventually, she found success as an Executive Secretary until she officially retired in 2008.

Once retired Mary dedicated herself to doing Jehovah’s fieldwork, She could be seen locally spreading the word. Mary enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others and teaching whoever may be interested.

Some of her loves were her grandchildren, cooking, traveling, reading, shopping, and her dog Princess.

A Time To Die:
Mary departed this life at home on February 9, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fitzgerald Hill, brothers, Brent, Lewis, Ernest, Eddie, James (Rainey), and sister, Ruby. She loved her family.

A Time To Mourn:
Surviving to share her precious memories are: two daughters, Jennifer Hill Wright of Buford, Georgia and Celeste Hill (Garrett Washington) of White Plains, New York; three grandchildren, Garrett, Jarel, and Jourdan Washington of White Plains, New York; one aunt, Francis Mabry (Thomas Mabry) of Alberta, Virginia; Three nieces, Denise Rideout of Wayne, New Jersey; Subita Ray of High Point, North Carolina; and Stephanie Jones of New York; 2 great-nieces, Treymaine Cunningham of Wayne, New Jersey; and Shahana Williams of West New York, New Jersey; Two Nephews, Gregory Jones of Bellport, New York; and Allen Jones of Queens, New York; One great-nephew, Karmel Williams of Jacksonville, Florida

A Time to Rejoice:
Thank you, Jehovah for sharing the life of Mary with us!
“My body and heart may fail, But God is the rock of my heart and my portion forever ” ~ Psalms 73:26

ATTENTION: During this COVID-19 crisis, as we slowly begin to phase back into small capacity public visitations/services, we need your help in limiting and controlling the number of people inside the funeral home. WE HAVE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR SERVICES THIS SATURDAY 2/20 - PLEASE READ IN DETAIL BELOW BEFORE EVEN ATTEMPTING TO ATTEND ANYTHING PLEASE! Thank you so kindly!

ALL seating for the visitation/wake & funeral on Sat., 2/20 is by invitation of the family explicitly only. What IS being ALLOWED for others, however, is a constant stream of HEALTHY attendees, in groups of two (2), to just BRIEFLY do a 'walk through visitation', give their respects and leave, during the 10:30AM-11:30AM TIME period ONLY. Strict social distancing MUST be maintained inside & outside at ALL times however. So during that time period, in groups of 2 with your masks on (preferably wearing 2 masks), you will be allowed to come to the front door, get hand sanitizer, read/sign the contact list/release, sign the register book (NOTE: please preferably bring your own pen), walk through to offer any brief condolence to the family keeping social distance (NO touching/hugging/handshaking, ONLY clothed elbow bumping briefly if at all), briefly view, and then immediately leave the building & premises if you've not been extended an invitation to sit & stay (you will literally be in the funeral home for a few minutes or less). Once 11:25AM comes, NO one else will be admitted and ALL not assigned a seat must leave the funeral home & vicinity. The Funeral Service itself is PRIVATE for INVITED attendees of the family explicitly only. But there will be a ZOOM of the funeral service only, for all to see from anywhere at 11:30AM Sat. - (MUST get ZOOM Link from a family member or her Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses Greenburgh congregation). If you're attending though, masking & social distancing MUST be maintained inside & outside at ALL times, & there is No guarantee of entry. PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY follow & abide by the directions of the funeral home staff/personnel at All times. We Thank You in advance for following directions & NYS law, so as to make all go smoothly the day of the services, to eliminate further burden on the family, and to maintain the Health & Safety of All. Any questions, or if any clarity is needed, please call ahead to the funeral home and/or speak to us from a safe distance if present.
