Sister Evelyn Hudson ~ Life Reflection
Sunrise: July 13, 1948 Sunset: January 29, 2021

July 13, 1948 was a beautiful sunny day in Shelton Georgia when our Lord and Savior brought Evelyn Smalls into the world. God saw fit for Enoch and Lessie Mae Smalls to be the earthly parents for Evelyn where she would join a family of sisters and a brother. Early years were spent in the south surrounded by family, friends
and a love of God. Evelyn enjoyed many of the gifts from her mother Lessie Mae to fill the home with love and to use her talents of creativity to provide comfort for her family.

After the passing of her mother, Evelyn came to New York at a young age. She lived with loving family members and settled into Westchester County. She completed her studies at Westchester Business Institute which prepared her for a long twenty-year career at IBM in Armonk. At the height of her career she was the operational partner to the chairman of the board.

While living in Greenburgh, she met and married the love of her life, Gerald David Hudson Sr. Their union of 52 years produced many fruits, greatest of which are two children: Trina Denise Hudson-Maynes (James) and Gerald David Hudson Jr. (Jennifer). She prided herself on her role as a beloved Granny to her five grandchildren: Elijah Jordan Maynes, Tyler James Maynes, Myles Gerald-Patrick Maynes, Samantha Grace Hudson and Victoria Rose Hudson.

Evelyn was a dedicated Godly Mother, Sister, Aunt, Business Woman, Entrepreneur, Community Supporter, Traveler and Faithful Member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a dutiful member of the missionary ministry. She championed education and hard work.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory her sisters: Carolyn Smalls, Mae Hayward and Brenda Ann Wiltshire (David), brother: Robert Gibbs (Patricia) and sister-in-law Barbara Craig. Brother-in-law’s James Hudson, Verlin Finger Jr, Charles Finger and Ronnie Finger. Siblings Alethia Gilham and Enoch Earl Smalls Jr have already gone to be with the Lord.

She leaves behind beloved Aunts: Nanette Flowers, Barbara James (Charles) and Rebecca James (Frank) and a loving family of Cousins, Nieces and Nephews who she had special relationships with.

As a beloved friend and surrogate “MomHudson” figure to many, we will miss many aspects of her personality. She expressed love generously, was incredibly determined, and strong. Her grace, warmth and kindness ran deep. She left an indelible mark in every life that she met.

We will miss her deeply, but we know that love is eternal.
