Obituary for Daniel A. "Danny" Rodgers

Daniel A. Rodgers or “Big Danny” to those who were fortunate enough to feel the warmth of his existence has asked us to let you know he was promoted from the local Orlando office to a greater appointment on December 11, 2020. One he was not expecting and could most definitely not refuse. It comes with an incredible signing bonus, reunions to many loved ones like his father Charles and mother Julia, Aunt Ilene, Uncle Joe, his brothers Lawrence and Michael and so many old friends whom he has not seen in some time. The job security is beyond reproach. It is guaranteed 110% for all eternity. While his new exciting mission temporarily takes him from his precious beloved children Christina, Michael, Mikyla and Maurice and grandchildren Isiah and Jazmine, he wishes everyone to know he will be watching over them.

Danny will get to maintain some of his favorite pastimes from eating to his heart’s content with the bonus of not having to worry about weight gains. He will now get to play marathon Monopoly games and take on all challengers in chess. He will listen to good old R&B music of the 60’s and 70’s as he continues to explore America’s historical routes. Imagine the discussions he is having with great civil rights leaders. These perks all come with the new gig.

He also asked us to share with all his many friends, and if you knew Danny – once a friend always a friend; that he loved each and every one of you. From his young journey in Flushing Queens at John Brown HS to graduating as a Radiology honor student from Hostos Community College and then his many jobs and entrepreneurial endeavors. While it was a too short 67-year journey, it was filled with much love, some sadness and an abundance of incredible joys. However, he knew that it was not just the journey but all who touched his life, that made it a life well lived, appreciated and loved. While life is never perfect, he strived to help make life for everyone else just a little better - be it by offering a big shoulder to cry upon, a soft concerned voice and maybe just a little bit of advice. Or sometimes it was the wisdom of listening, the strength to provide and give tough love or just that special teddy bear hug.

Danny will also be watching over his beloved family: cousins who were more like sisters and brothers; Eleanor, Ilene, Tyrone and Ray, his niece; Shareese, close family members; including William, April and Janai, Louise, Ralph, Lynn, Linda and Trevor. He will never forget his abundance of good friends, all who helped make his life so much the richer. All of you were and are his extended family. Know his spirit will always be there to celebrate your many achievements. He will relish in your continuing success and celebrations. For only his love was bigger than his heart.

While Danny would never say this about himself, he was and shall always be a special angel. Until his vey last breath on earth Danny was helping others to make their lives better; he asks that in lieu of flowers you please donate to your favorite charity.

The family kindly invites you to join us in the celebration of his life on Sunday, January 31 at 1:30 PM via zoom.

Daniel has gone through a transition from life

After providing service to all of his loved ones from the
NA Family.

So many hearts are hurting today thinking of a lost loved one. When you lose
someone you love, you gain an Angel who will watch over you from above.
I pray that GOD will help each and everyone of you to find a way to keep the
sweet memories alive, to heal your broken hearts and to keep you open to face another day,
because life will move on and the sun will shine again.
When life gives you more than what you can handle, it’s time for you to kneel and pray.
Step by step the journey goes on. Little by little it may seem so long,
but The things we learn will keep us strong with faith in GOD.

GOD BLESS. Have a blessed day to all.
Love,

Eleanor and Family
