Obituary for Minnie Collins Brown

Minnie Collins Brown was born January 21, 1926 in Kinston, NC
to Charlie Collins Sr. and Minnie Siaid Collins. She attended the
Newbern NC School System. On October 26, 1941, she was
married to Carl Matthews Brown Jr., and shortly afterwards
moved to White Plains NY. Minnie worked domestically but
because of a longtime dream she attended Wilfred Academy in
White Plains NY making the honor roll fulfilling that dream
becoming a professional hairdresser. She worked at the Powder
Puff in Greenburgh, NY and continued by attending Westchester
Community College and working as an office assistant at
Westchester Residential Opportunity in White Plains NY.

A seed of love for God was planted in Minnie as a little girl and
continuously grew throughout her life. She was an active
member at Christ's Temple in Greenburgh, NY and whether she
was singing in the choir, ushering, attending Sunday School or
ministry of helps it was always in a spirit of sincerity and
excellence. She was loved by many often referred to as "Mother
Brown". Minnie was a carrier of "Living Water" and Fruit of the
Holy Spirit that enabled her to be Christ-like, truly a gift from God.

Minnie passed away peacefully on September 22, 2020, at The
Grove at Valhalla Center in Valhalla NY where she was also
cared, loved and often known as very "nice" and "sweet".

Minnie is survived by four children Elnora Brown, Doris Paige,
Paul Brown and Peter Brown Sr. In addition, great-great-great
grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Minnie is preceded in death
by her devoted and beloved husband Carl Matthews Brown Jr.,
four brothers James, Charlie, Freddie, William Collins and three
sisters Beatrice and Mary Collins and Eula Mae Edwards.

ATTENTION: During this COVID-19 crisis, as we slowly begin to phase back into small capacity public visitations/services, we need your help in limiting and controlling the number of people inside the funeral home AND cemetery. WE HAVE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR SERVICES FRIDAY 10/2 - PLEASE READ IN DETAIL BELOW BEFORE EVEN ATTEMPTING TO ATTEND ANYTHING PLEASE! Thank you so kindly!

ALL seating for the visitation/wake on Fri., 10/2 is by invitation of the family explicitly only. What IS being ALLOWED for others, however, is a constant stream of attendees, in groups of two (2), to just BRIEFLY do a 'walk through viewing', give their respects and leave, during the 11:00AM-12:45PM TIME period ONLY. So during that time period, in groups of 2 with your masks on & phones away, you will be allowed to come to the front door, get hand sanitizer, sign the register book (NOTE: please feel free to bring your own pen), walk through to offer any brief condolence to the family keeping social distance (NO touching/hugging/handshaking, ONLY elbow bumping briefly if at all), briefly view, and then immediately leave the building & premises if you've not been extended an invitation to sit & stay (you will literally be in the funeral home for a few minutes or less). Once 12:45PM comes, NO one else will be admitted and ALL not assigned a seat must leave the funeral home & vicinity. The Funeral Service is for INVITED attendees of the family explicitly only. There will be a Zoom of the service with whomever the family chooses to share only, so you must please contact the family only for details to view. Please follow & abide by the directions of the funeral home staff and/or cemetery personnel at all times. We Thank You in advance for following directions & NYS law, so as to make all go smoothly the day of the services, to eliminate further burden on the family, and to maintain the health & safety of All. Any questions, or if any clarity is needed, please call ahead to the funeral home and/or speak to us from a safe distance if present.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You MUST come to the funeral home & cemetery wearing a mask, & wear a mask inside the funeral home & at cemetery at all times.
