Obituary for Retired Lt. Col. Charles Wiggins

Retired Lt. Col. Charles W. Wiggins was raised in White Plains, New York, born on November 8, 1932 to loving parents Mr. & Mrs. Waylon Wiggins. He was a graduate of Morgan State University and the U. S. Army Medical Services Corps Schools, specializing in operating and administering hospitals all over the world. Charles was a Lt. Colonel and a Vietnam veteran. He was a brother of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity for over 65 years having been inducted in 1955 at Morgan State.

He married E. Barbara Wiggins on October 11, 1964 and they were married for over 55 years. The Colonels served in numerous posts throughout Europe and the United States.

Charles was an intelligent, gentle and kind person who leaves to mourn: his wife Barbara; sisters-in -law Evelyn Castro, Bettie Williams, Chrissie Shepard ( deceased); brothers- in -law Algon Williams II ( deceased), Raymond D'Arceuil ( deceased) and Alex Castro (deceased); nieces and nephews and god-children: Gavin Shepard, Alexander Castro, Antonio Castro, Algon Williams III, Joanne Williams and Lani Shepard; nieces-in-law: Cynthia Bannis-Castro, Nasse Cynthia Castro, Debbie Shepard and Angie Williams. Grand nieces and nephews: AJ Castro, Che Castro, Jaeden Castro, Kyyle Castro, Bryce Castro, Justin Castro, Bianca Castro, Aaomi Castro, Trinity Castro, Ava Shepard and Nicole Shepard; cousins Geraldine Horton, Debra Holder and Cynthia Holder; & His brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, who he loved dearly; and a host of other relatives & friends.

ATTENTION: During this COVID-19 crisis, as we begin to phase back into small capacity public visitations/services, your help is needed in limiting and controlling the number of people allowed at services. There is a limit of people allowed at the church. This includes All the family & All the church personnel, in addition to space left for friends & organizations. To best prepare for the services, if you have not already indicated your intent to the family to attend, Please make the family aware if you are coming to any of the services, which one(s), and with how many people. If you do not have the family's information to contact them, contact the church for further direction. There is strict social distancing the church has in place that must be followed as they specify. And there will not be access to all areas of the church. So please plan accordingly & please carefully follow all directions given on the day of services. Thank You in advance for following directions, so as to make all go smoothly on the day of the services, to eliminate further burden on the family, and to maintain the health & safety of all. All are appreciative of all for respecting & following any/all policies & laws if you plan to attend. Thank you so kindly!

You MUST wear a mask in the church at all times. You may be asked to use hand sanitizer, & possibly have your temperature taken. The family will have a Register Book for you to sign in for their own record. You are encouraged to please bring & use your own pen for signing all. If you know you have a coronovirus/COVID-19; are sick/experiencing symptoms of coronovirus/COVID-19; are immuno-compromised, have health/other conditions that make your body more susceptible to illness, are under an imposed or advised quarantine, and/or are visiting from a state that requires you to quarantine upon entering NY for a designated amount of time before going out in public, please do NOT attend any services nor come to the church nor restaurant. Any questions, or if any clarity is needed, please call ahead to the family or church, and/or speak to them from a safe distance at the services. Please follow & abide by the directions of any/all the church workers at all times, for the health & safety of All, Thank you!

Private burial services have already been held. There will ONLY be a Public WAKE to speak with his family Sat. Aug. 1st at 10:30AM, after the OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNAL SERVICE at 10:00AM (NO speaking), followed by religious MEMORIAL SERVICE at 11:00AM (no speaking) All on Saturday, August 1st, 2020, at Grace Episcopal Church (since private interment services have already been held, there is NO viewing). As private interment services have already been held, NO flowers should be sent to the funeral home now. Instead, in LIEU of flowers, please see contribution info below. Thank You!
