Obituary for Robert C. Rowe, Jr.
Robert Charles Rowe, Jr. was born in the village of Harlem, New York on November 15, 1963 to the late Robert C. Ford-Rowe and late Cynthia Thomas Rowe. He transitioned into eternal rest after a brief illness on Saturday, April 18th, 2020 in Manhattan, New York at the Hilton Garden Inn South, at Times Square.
Robert attended elementary school at Bronx River Community School and Melrose Community School, in Bronx, New York. He attended and graduated junior high and high school from Our Savior Lutheran in Bronx, New York, where he ran track and played soccer and basketball. Robert attended Denison University in Granville, Ohio and eventually graduated from Mercy College, Bronx, New York, where he earned a bachelor degree in Business. Further, Robert attended and graduated from Long Island University, Brooklyn, New York, where he earned a master of science degree in Education.
Additionally, Robert served his country in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve for total of 13 years. Robert was as a substitute teacher for the New York City Department of Education. Robert served as an auxiliary police officer for the NYPD 45th precinct for several years. Robert was employed in retail and food service industries where he served at the original Yankee stadium (“The House that Ruth Built”), Billy Jean King Tennis Center, Citifield, Shea Stadium, Red Bull Arena, MetLife Stadium, Giants Stadium and the Prudential Center.
Robert gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Greater Refuge Temple, Harlem, New York, where the late Apostle William Lee Bonner was the pastor. During the course of this life Robert attended and was a member of several Christian churches, including, Tremont United Methodist Church (Bronx), Co-op City Baptist Church (Bronx), Community Protestant Church (Bronx), Redeeming Love Christian Center (Nyack) and Epiphany Lutheran Church (Bronx).
Robert enjoyed listening to music, collecting items of personal interest, including, regional and national public history and events. He served as historian and other elected positions with the American Legion Post 398 (Harlem), and a member of the NAACP, National Action Network, National Rifle Association, American Numismatic Association, United States Tennis Association, Full Gospel Businessman’s Fellowship International, Scouting Alumni Association, and an affiliate member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
He leaves to mourn his passing in celebration of his life: his sisters, Emily Rowe-Smith (Anthony) of White Plains, New York and Andrea Rowe Crittenden (Cornelius) of Windsor, Connecticut; nephews, Anthony Smith, Jr., Joshua Crittenden and Daniel Crittenden; and niece, Faith Crittenden. He also leaves his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Cynthia Thomas Rowe, paternal grandmother Eartha M. Rowe, maternal grandfather Percival Thomas, maternal grandmother Beatrice Owen, paternal step grandmother Irene Smith and paternal grandfather Stellie D. Ford. His father, Reverend Dr. Robert Ford Rowe followed him in death shortly thereafter.

Robert was loved and will be sorely missed by many.
