Obituary for Olive C. Wolfries (Robinson)

Olive C. Wolfries passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at the age of 81.

Olive was born on July 24, 1938 in Kingston, Jamaica to parents George and Agnes Robinson. She was educated in Jamaica and immigrated to the U.S. as a young woman in the early 1960’s, where she later became a U.S. Citizen. Olive briefly resided in Hawaii after arriving in the states but considered herself a New Yorker, where she later moved. She was a pillar in the communities she resided in, including Freeport, LI, Hopewell Junction, NY and White Plains, NY.

At a young age in Jamaica, Olive became a seamstress and later honed those skills in the U.S, becoming accomplished in that vocation. She was well known for designing and sewing hand-crafted dresses, including wedding gowns.

Olive was a woman of integrity, faith, and was deeply committed to her family. She freely gave of her time and wisdom to family and friends alike and was loved and respected by many. Her warm inviting smile and hearty laugh will be missed. She lived her life to the fullest. Olive’s large family loved her dearly and is blessed to have lasting memories of her.

Olive is survived by four daughters - Diane Raffington, Roxanne Wolfries Rivenbark (Dan), Lorri Wolfries (Jonathan), and Tracey Goodson Barrett (Bill); seven grandchildren - Juliana Simpson, Christian Batts, Alexandra Raffington, Ashley Batts, Brianna Barrett, Dean Rivenbark, and Justin Barrett; eight siblings – Phyllis Howard, Orline Robinson, Lascelles Robinson, Doreen Dixon, Hyacinth Robinson, Clement Robinson, Lloyd Robinson, and Dwight Robinson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Olive survived her husbands, Lowell Wolfries and Warren Goodson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Olive be made to the White Plains Medical Center Foundation (also through donation tab/link here in website at the bottom of this page).
