Obituary for Eric Lamar "Seadog" Harris, Esq.
Eric Lamar Harris of Lake Peekskill, New York, was born on May 24, 1952 in White Plains, New York. He passed away on Monday, February 17th, 2020.
Eric graduated from White Plains High School; Williams College in Williamstown, Ma with a B.A. in Political Science; and received his Law degree from Syracuse University College of Law in Syracuse, NY. He spent his working career as a litigation attorney with expertise in personal injury/insurance litigation as plaintiff and defense counsel. Eric acted as Arbitrator for City of New York (Bronx County). He was the former President of the Association of Black Lawyers of Westchester County, Inc and a former Member of the Grievance Committee-9th Judicial District (NY).
Eric was the son of the late Lamar Harris and Edna Mae (Black) of White Plains. He was the beloved partner to Paola Sergi and her children Julia, Alex and Joseph of Lake Peekskill, NY; the devoted father to Jonathan Harris (Danielle) of Herndon, Va and Jacqueline Harris of Manhattan, NY. He was the loving brother of Philip Harris (Joy) of Carmel, NY, Lorne Harris of San Francisco, California and Vernon Harris (Michelle) and cherished godfather and uncle to Justin and Hunter Harris of Poughkeepsie, NY. He is also survived by many dear friends.
Eric spent his spare time listening to classical music, reading and working out. He experienced the greatest pleasure on the tennis court. Everyone who knew Eric, and anyone who was blessed to meet him, even if only one time, would agree that he had a huge loving heart, a laugh so unique and joyful, and the most beautiful and contagious smile that lit up any room. His gentle kindness and compassionate sensitivity was felt by each and every person he connected with. And the love, pride, and tenderness he had for his friends and family was immeasurable. Eric touched the lives of so many people. He was truly loved and will be deeply missed.
The family would love to have you join them to bid Eric farewell this Friday, February 21, between 5 and 7 pm at Lee’s Funeral Home, 160 Fisher Avenue in White Plains, New York 10606. Please note that parking is available in the back and on the street. There will be no reception to follow. Thank you for understanding.
