Mary Sue Tutt
On Friday, February 7, 2020, God in His infinite wisdom, called His servant, Mary Sue Tutt, from this life to eternal glory. Mary was born on January 5, 1943, to the late David and Dell Tutt of Lincolnton, GA. She was the eighth of sixteen siblings. Mary was a 1962 graduate of Lincoln County Training School and attended Westchester Community College in Valhalla, New York. She retired from Verizon Telephone Company after 30 dedicated years of service, with the title of Engineer. She was later rehired as a contractor, to share her expertise in training personnel on the intricate equipment.
At an early age, Mary gave her life to Christ at Pleasant Grove CME Church in Lincolnton, GA. Upon graduating from high school, Mary relocated to Bronx, NY with her sister Catherine and family. Eventually she moved to White Plains, where she joined and became an active member of Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church under the pastorate of Rev. D. Albert Turk.
At Allen, Mary was a quiet, unassuming, yet faithful member. She was a beloved member who could always be counted on to provide an encouraging word, wisdom, and inspiration. Her beautiful smile and soft laughter could light up a room. While at Allen, Mary served in various capacities, always assisting to uplift God’s people. She also regularly attended Church School and Bible Study. She received special joy in serving the less fortunate in the Allen Church Love Kitchen on the third Saturday of each month.
Mary loved to travel. She joined a travel group in White Plains and went on several trips to Cape Cod, MA Washington, DC, Chicago, IL, Florida, and Louisiana among others. But her favorite trips of all were when she was able to travel home to Lincolnton, GA to visit with family and friends during family and class reunions.
Mary loved watching professional basketball and football. She could talk football with the best of the best. Her favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys! She also was a student of history and enjoyed studying American history, especially presidential history.
She leaves to cherish her memory her three sisters: Ruby Tutt of Augusta, GA, Anne Tutt-Denmark of Rochester, NY, and Lillie Cambric of Columbus, GA; four brothers: David Tutt, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Roger, Bobby (Shevon), and Lattimore (Alice) all of Lincolnton, GA; two sisters-in-law: Shirley Tutt of Palmetto, GA and Learbell Tutt of Lincolnton, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Mary will join in glory, her parents and pre-decreased siblings: Mae Etta Harris, Lila Beard, Catherine Triggs, Betty Bennett, Jack, Paul, Harvey Lee and Clarence Tutt.
