Errol Cushnie was born in Kingston, Jamaica on March 22nd 1960 to the late Arthur Cushnie and Mildred Simpson. He attended Calabar high school.in Jamaica. The family moved to Miami where he graduated from Edison high school, and went on to graduate from the University of Miami; with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. Errol soon left Miami to pursue his career in engineering. He worked a private firm before working for the Board of Education in NYC where he worked for many years. Throughout his profession; Errol was a certified oil burner inspection and an asbestos investigator. Errol started in 2003 with the New York Power Authority, where he retired after 30 years with New York State on September 6th, 2018.
In 1997 Errol became engaged to Shari, his wife of 22 years. They married in Miami, Fl. 1998. The two began a life as husband and wife while living in the Bronx. Together Errol and Shari raised 4 children, 3-sons Ichael, Erron (Ronnie) & Eian; and their only daughter; Jada in Carmel, NY where they have resided for 19 years.
Errol was affectionately called Mr. “C” by Shari and big Papi by close friends. He was well known for his famous “Jerk sauce” and homemade Limeade which everyone who tasted would put in their request for more, after all the Cushnie backyard parties were known for his jerk chicken. Errol was a generous and giving soul to many. Errol loved to work in his lawn, planting vegetable and fruits, many loved the peaches, as well as his jerk sauce he would share and bring into work.
A little secret about Mr. C, he had an adventures side to him. He’d hot air ballooned, rode bare back horseback riding, swam with the dolphins, biked, kayaked, climbed the Maya steps of Chichén Itzá. Soon after retirement he went to Florida and spent time with family. His favorite moments were spending times at the beach with his wife and children, which he did enjoyed last year when he took his family to Jamaica to show his children Jamaica through his eyes-Indeed it was a wonderful time last summer for Errol and his family.
He was predeceased by his father, Arthur Cushnie, his brother Arthur Cushnie, Jr.
