Obituary for Deborah Denise Bradley

Obituary
(Written by Dawn Gordon)

Deborah Denise Bradly of Yonkers, NY, passed on to eternal rest on Thursday, December 20, 2019. She was born on July 26, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York, and was the youngest daughter of James and Corine Bradley. As the youngest of four daughters, Altermiese Bradley, Sandy McAllister and Brinda Bradley, she felt that everyone’s attention should be the focused on her. Deborah had an abundance of love for her family and friends but was adept at drawing you into her universe.

When Tim Tam’s restaurant in the Bronx closed, it was the end of an era. When the MTA renumbered the BX13 to the BX22, it was the end of another era. Losing Deborah is also the end of an era; one that was filled with joy and pain, laughter and sorrow but most importantly love and tons of memories.

No one could make an entrance like Deborah. From family gatherings, parties, BBQs to just walking into a room, she commanded everyone’s attention and people gravitated towards her. She had a presence like no one else and it was grand.

Deborah was a stickler for details. Everything had to be just so, and nothing was ever enough. When she and her friends planned her birthday bashes, they was so much food and there was so much fun, that they would forget to cut the birthday cake! More than once, another gathering after the party would be planned just to cut and eat the cake.

Deborah had the biggest extended family which was not defined by blood. She loved so many people. We’ve lost count of how many “aunts” and “uncles” Dominique has. She had such a big heart that she invited everyone in; it was comforting and warm. She knew how to make people feel loved.

Over the years, Deborah’s disability took its toll. She was tired of the doctors and hospital visits. God saw her pain; he saw her struggle and even though we love her and want her to remain here with us, God knew she needed the type of relief that only He can give. We are not angry, just sad. Very sad because we will no longer hear her laughter, her stories, or even her outbursts.

Deborah is with so many loved ones that have gone home before her. Be free my sister. Free from all this world has thrust upon you. God has healed you and by this, we are comforted. Love transcends the physical realm. You may no longer be here physically, but your love will live on in all of us.

Deborah is survived by her son Dominique J. Bradley of Yonkers, her mother Corine Addison Bradley of Elmsford, NY, her sisters Altermiese Bradley, White Plains, NY, Sandy Gadsden-McAllister, Ossining, NY, Brinda B. Bradley, Elmsford, NY, a niece Tiffany D. Bradley, Elmsford, NY, In-Laws, Frankie and June Jacobs, Darlington, SC close sister friend Dawn Gordon, Bronx, NY and a whole host of cousins extended family and friends.

Deborah’s ashes were interred at Grace Church on December 29, 2018
