Cassie Mae Coleman of White Plains, N.Y. and Lilesville, N.C. passed away on April 27, 2016 at age 98. She was born on July 7, 1917 in Anson County, N.C. to the late Jack and Johnsie (nee Ellerbe) Spencer. Cassie worked as a domestic worker for many years. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. She also enjoyed playing the piano. Cassie was a devoted mother to Juanita Mitchell-Scott (Junius), Ronald Mitchell (LaShaun), and Cassie Coleman; loving grandmother to Tawana Mitchell, Michael Scott, Alicia Mitchell, Evan Scott, Tiffani Soto and Shalena Soto. She is also survived by three great-grand children; sister, Montessa Johnson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Andrew Coleman, her son, John Mitchell, Jr. and siblings John Davis Spencer, Clevon Spencer, Kinzell Spencer, Thedis Spencer, Bernice Sturdivant, Ceola Liles, and Albert Spencer. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at the Forestville A.M.E. Zion Church in Lilesvile, N.C. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 starting at 11:00 a.m.
