A White Plains native, Ms. Lee is a graduate of White Plains High School.  She then matriculated to the University of Virginia, receiving two B.A. Degrees in just four years, and graduating on the Dean's List.

Having a strong sense of community involvement and dedication to family, as well as belief in independently owned business, Jennifer decided to go to mortuary school to be able to carry on the family legacy . She entered the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, Inc., and graduated Summa Cum Laude.  After serving a residency and passing the applicable state and national exams, Ms. Lee became, and is now an active New York State licensed funeral director.  She is an experienced, third generation licensed funeral director, now practicing/serving as such for over 21 years.

Back in 2009, after a vigorous screening process, Ms. Lee was bestowed the high honor of being appointed to the eleven member New York State Funeral Directing Advisory Board.  Additionally, in Jan. 2014 Ms. Lee was honored to have her nomination approved, and became a board member of the Metropolitan Funeral Directors Association.  Locally, Ms. Lee is active in numerous community, religious, and trade organizations, ever involved in and giving back to the community and her profession.

Theodore (Teddy) Jay Lee, Jr., was born in White Plains, NY, eventually graduating from White Plains High School in 1955. Growing up, he became a member of Bethel Baptist Church, and helped out in the family funeral business over the years. He attended New York University, spent 3 years in the Army of the United States, and graduated cum laude from the McAllister School of Embalming in April, 1962.

As a newly licensed funeral director, Teddy began working with his father and mother in Lee's Funeral Home.  Upon his father's death, Teddy became the manager of the firm. He married Jo Anne, of Peekskill, NY, who at the time was a licensed registered nurse, and they were blessed with the births of their two children, Jennifer and T.J.

In addition to being an accomplished funeral director, Ted is also an accomplished magician.  He has received many awards during his 75 years, and is happy to have served as a now past president of several organizations, including the Greater NY Funeral Directors Association, Empire State Funeral Directors Association, Society of American Magicians Parent Assembly #1, NYC,NY, Society of American Magicians Assembly #194 Yonkers, NY, International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring #26, NYC,NY, Exchange Club of White Plains, and as a First District Governor of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association.  He's also a long time member of the NY State Funeral Directors Association, the Metropolitan Funeral Directors Association (and a former member of its board of directors), the Westchester County Funeral Directors Association and the Eta Chapter of the Epsilon  Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity. He served 9 years on the NY State Funeral Directing Advisory Board, and is currently in his 15th year as a member and trustee of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, in NYC, NY.

Among his numerous awards, Teddy includes the following from his profession: Heritage Award from the First District of the NFD&MA (1983); Distinguished Service Award from the GNYFDA (1990); Contributions and Dedication to Our Profession Award from the First District of the NFD&MA (1991); Appreciation of service as Governor, District 1, from then president, Otto Ali for continuing National's program of education and service to the NFD&MA (1995); Recognition of Appreciation Award from Eta Chapter of END (1997); plaque for being in business for 90 years from 1st District of NFD&MA (2005); Samuel Gaines Award from outgoing chairman of the board, NFD&MA, Wayne Sparrow (2005); Robert H. Miller Professional of the Year Award from NFD&MA (2006); and Funeral Director of the Year from the Empire Funeral Directors Association (2011). In 2012 he also earned his CFSP status (Certified Funeral Service Professional), from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice (APFSP).

In 2002 Teddy semi retired and turned over his managerial duties to Jennifer. Teddy has been a licensed funeral director for over 50 years, and Lee's Funeral Home has been in existence for over 100 years.  He currently is a member of  and serves on the boards of directors of several other organizations. He enjoys his hobby, magic, performing now and then for various groups, churches, and institutions. He credits his success, so far to his parents, his wife, his children, his teachers, his elders, other family members, peers, families served by his business, and especially to God, who has brought him thus far.

JoAnne F. Lee graduated from Peekskill High School with honors,  received a registered nurse diploma from the Westchester School of Nursing, graduated cum laude from American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, Inc., and received a BS in psychology from Mercy College.  She also earned her CFSP status (Certified Funeral Service Professional), from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice (APFSP).

Active in her church and the community, she served on the Mayor's Youth Board, the White Plains Library Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors of Westchester Hospice and Palliative Care.  JoAnne is past president of Post Road School PTA,  the Fisher Hill Neighborhood Association, and Concerned Black Parents.  She also served as secretary for the various funeral director associations when her husband served as the president.  

A cancer survivor, JoAnne is an Ambassador for Gilda's Club Westchester.   The author of "Three Things to Know Before Making Funeral Arrangements", she has a few booklets left that can be purchased at the funeral home for $10.00 each.
