Obituary for Ernestine Foster

Ernestine Foster
Ernestine Foster was born on May 30, 1922 in Union, South Carolina to Haskell and Julia Foster. She attended the local schools. Her working career began at Camp Croft Training Center. During that time, she met and married Glen Jeter, in which produced two children.

After migrating to Mount Vernon, New York with her children, she worked for a factory, an insurance company, and eventually retired from the supermarket industry. She was an active church member of White Plains Deliverance Evangelistic Center, Inc. in Mount Vernon, NY where Reverend Dr. Ray S. Blake, Sr. was pastor. Meanwhile, she moved to Greenburgh, NY to be closer to her beloved daughter. However, in her later years, she decided to join Victorious Apostolic Church in New Rochelle, NY to support her son, Pastor Tommie Allen Jeter. During her Christian walk, she was a cheerful usher. She also served as a Mother who guided young women. In addition, she sang on the choir and occasionally rendered solos. Ernestine always showed love by witnessing to others in her community. She was a charismatic, virtuous woman who loved people. She was affectionately referred to as "The Greatest" because of her friendly, competitive spirit.

On Saturday, May 20, 2017, Ernestine passed away peacefully at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry, NY where she resided for almost three years. Her son Tommie preceded her in death. Left to survive and cherish her memory are her devoted daughter, Carolyn and son-in-law Joseph Pendleton of Greenburgh, NY; daughter-in-law Flora "Joyce" Jeter of Newnan, GA; grandchildren James (Jamie) Miller of Valhalla, NY; Tracy Kershaw of Newnan, GA; Brian (Dionne) Pendleton of Upper Marlboro, MD; Kimberly Pendleton of Greenburgh, NY; sister Julia Wright of Jamaica, NY; stepsisters and stepbrothers; twenty great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
