Obituary for Sandra Renee "Sandy" Barker-Boyd (Barker)

Sandra Renee Barker-Boyd was born on December 27, 1952 to the late Eugene S. Barker and the late Ruby Brown Barker. Sandy departed this life on May 1, 2017 in her adopted hometown of Las Vegas, NV. She met and fell in love with her beloved husband Willie (Junnie) Boyd, who will love and cherish her memory forever. They were married October 24, 1988 and renewed their marriage vows on October 24, 1998. Sandy leaves to mourn her passing, one brother, Eugene Spencer, Jr. and one half-sister Yvonne Ware. Although Sandra never gave birth, she had four beautiful daughters: Codi Chiles, and Valyn Chiles of New Haven, CT, Nikol Robinson of Los Angeles, CA and Delonda Brown of Atlanta, GA; also three granddaughters and three grandsons; and two godsons, Devon Smith and Raphael Camacho.

Sandra was educated in the White Plains School System, graduating from White Plains High School in 1970. She attended C.W. Post College in Nassau County, NY. (1970-1971) and Banks College at Columbia University. She then transferred to Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT where she graduated with her Masters in Special Education in 1974. This is also where she met and fell in love with her beloved husband-to-be Willie (Junnie) Boyd. Sandy was a dedicated Special Education Teacher in the White Plains Elementary School system. She loved and nurtured her students until her retirement in 2010. Sandy loved all children and they loved and respected her, she could always get through to them. They all loved their aunt Sandy.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Willie (Junnie) Boyd; her baby and loving companion, her dog GUCCI; her brother, Eugene Spencer, Jr. of White Plains, NY; two aunts, Beverly Thompson and Geraldine Barker both of Greenburgh, NY; four sisters-in-law: Irma Hinton of Washington, DC, Gloria J. Richardson, Martha A. Wilson and Courtli Boyd of New Haven, CT, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Sandy will always be remembered by everyone, but no one can love and miss her more than her one and only love Junnie, and her beloved GUCCI.

Dearest Sandy,
If I had a FLOWER for every time you made me smile, I’d have a garden to walk in FOREVER.
Love Always Junnie
