Carolyn Elsie Mc Doyle (Cammie) was born on January 26, 1928; she was the seventh child of the late Houston London McElrath McDoyle and Mary Elizabeth Watson. She grew up in the Town of Greenburgh with her sisters Mae, Dolly, Evelyn (Teenie) and her brother Donald (Bop). She attended the Greenburgh Schools. Carolyn was baptized at Union Baptist Church, and was a life time resident of the town of Greenburgh.
Carolyn was a loving, caring woman with a gentle kind spirit. She loved people, laughter and enjoying life. She was fondly known by her friends and family as Cammie. She was also called “Nurse Bop” by some of her friends because her brother was known as “Doctor Bop”.
Carolyn was a petite woman but very strong willed, she told her daughter that her help came from above and that she looked to God for her help.
Carolyn worked at various occupations through out her life. She once worked for a veterinarian and was afraid of dogs. (smile)
Carolyn was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter Janice; grandmother to Lee, Todd, and Lori; great grandmother to Ashanti, Aliah, Sidney IV, and Darien; and Aunt to Donald Jr. She was fondly called MeMa by her great grandchildren. Family was important to her and she was very proud of them.
Carolyn was proud of the fact that she did not go to doctors and that she did not take medicine. That is one of the reasons she believed she lived to be 88. In August, Carolyn became ill, she said, “she just did not know what happened to her” as she had felt fine for so many years. She finally went to the doctor thinking that she had arthritis, but she soon learned that she had much, much more, that was wrong. On October 22, 2016, Carolyn quietly made her transition into eternal life.
Carolyn leaves to cherish many fond and wonderful memories: her daughter Janice Kennedy-Seward Greenburgh, NY; grandsons Sidney Lee Kennedy III (Carla) Virginia Beach, VA, Todd Kennedy Mount Vernon, NY; grand daughter Lorral (Lori) Pace Nyack, NY; great granddaughters Ashanti Kennedy Annapolis MD, Aliah Kennedy Grambling, LA; great grandsons Sidney Kennedy IV Virginia Beach, VA, Darien Brownlee Nyack, NY; special nephew Donald McDoyle, Jr. (Kimberly) White Plains, NY, and a host of family and friends. We are all going to miss you!
She was predeceased by her father and mother, Sisters Dorothy McDoyle, Carrie Green, Mae Sanders, Alice Tinnin, Dolly Hall, Evelyn (Teenie) Collins, Brother Donald McDoyle Sr., Nephew Charles Tinnin Jr. and Cousin Marjorie Whitehead.
