The invitations went out. Balloons are filled with air. Heaven must be having a really big party since Frances got there.
Four score and seven years ago, Ella and John Thomas created an amazing child who would not only become a great woman but would change the lives of all those who knew her. She grew up in Greenburgh with her sisters Joanetta(2011), Ardlee(2009) and Annette(2005). Attending the public school system, she met her devoted husband Allen(2002) and the two were joined in holy matrimony. From that union they were blessed with eight children - Pearl (1957), Timothy, John (1995), Stephen, William(1997), Anthony (2015), Kathleen and Peter.
Frances was a devoted wife and mother who often made great sacrifices for the joy of her family. While staying at home raising her children she began her own business caring for other children in the neighborhood. Surrounded by love and affection, these children never wanted to leave her side. Everyone felt that way. Like the TV show….Everybody Loves Frances! Once her children grew older she became employed by the Gannett Journal News for many years. After retiring in 1990 she resumed her childcare business and began raising the next generation of grandchildren and adopted grandchildren who all affectionately called her “Gram”.
Respected by everyone, Frances was a tremendous source of kindness, strength and of course
laughter…lots of laughter. She welcomed everyone into her home and life. Those that came
into her presence were immediately embraced by her warm spirit.
Frances was a devoted woman of faith who said the solution to anything is “Put your trust in
God”. When the doctors told her that she had kidney failure and would not live for six months
she defiantly outlived that date by over a year. She told them her body was in God’s hands and
when he was ready for her she would go home. On September 29th at 11:20 a.m., God was
ready for her and tearfully we had to say goodbye to ‘our girl’. To say we will miss her is an
understatement. Many hearts are broken during this time.
Frances leaves behind her loving family to cherish her memory, including her children, her son-in-
law Andrea, and daughters-in-law, Margaret and Janet; her six grandchildren - Jennie, Tiffany,
John Jr, Alisa, Kyle and Michael; her great grandchildren - Jason Jr. and Mariah; brother-in-law
Charles; a host of nieces and nephews and other beloved adopted children and grandchildren.
