Obituary for Wanda Grant (Gary)

Wanda Grant (Gary)
IN LOVING MEMORY

Wanda Grant was born March 8, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York, to Wallace Gary and Mary Elizabeth Gary. She united in Holy Matrimony to her beloved husband, Michael James Grant, on July 23, 1988 in White Plains, New York. To this loving union, two sons, Jonathan and Jordan, were born. She entered into eternal peace on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD.

Wanda graduated from Mabel Dean Bacon Vocational High School (NYC) and received certification as a License Practical Nurse (LPN) and continued on to receive an Associate of Applied Science in Secretarial Studies from LaGuardia Community College (Long Island City, NY). She continued her educational journey and received a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Computer Information Systems from Bernard M. Baruch College (CUNY). After completing her undergraduate degree at Bernard M. Baruch College, she relocated to Maryland in 1985. Shortly thereafter, she was employed by America Online (AOL) as a Helpdesk Technical Advisor. On her vocational journey, she realized her true calling and passion in education when she taught elementary school at St. Ambrose School in Cheverly, MD. Her ability to guide, teach and nurture the students never went unnoticed by clergy, faculty, colleagues and parents. Prior to her passing, she continued in education working as an Enrollment Advisor at Connections Education (Columbia, MD) where she assisted parents in securing the best possible educational programs in which to enroll their children.

Wanda leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband of 27 years, Michael James Grant (Silver Spring, MD), adoring sons, Jonathan Edward Grant and Jordan Alexander Grant, parents Wallace Gary (Sumter, SC) and Mary Elizabeth Gary (Mt. Rainier, MD), loving sister JoAnne Gary (Alexandria, VA), half-brother, Jerome Gary (Auburn, GA), loving stepmother, Mazie Gary (Sumter, SC) and a host of in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her half-brother Wallace Gary, Jr.

With Wanda’s zest for life, she enjoyed taking annual family cruises. Her infectious laugh and warm smile drew you in like a magnet. Her warmth and forever encouraging words earned her many friends who loved her dearly and will be forever missed by all who knew her, for which we Celebrate Her Life.

The Entire Staff of Lee's Funeral Home, LLC respects that the Grant family entrusted the care of their loved one to us, and that they value the level of service & attention our funeral home provides.
