Obituary for Beatrice "Bea" Green

Beatrice "Bea" Green entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Beth Israel (Schnurmacher Center) Nursing Home in White Plains, New York.

Beatrice was born on March 29, 1926 in Darlington, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Rasmus and Charlie Mae Kelly-Stevenson. She was educated in the Darlington School System. Beatrice came to New York as a young adult where she met and fell in love with Mathew "Sam" Green. They were married on January 12, 1951.

Beatrice came to know Christ at an early age. She joined Bethel Baptist Church in White Plains, New York where she was baptized. She served for many years on the Senior Usher Board, Church Aid and Bethel Guild.

Bea, as she was affectionately called, was a very kind and gentle soul. She loved to entertain at home, bake, shop and watch soap operas. Bea was employed as a domestic for many years by the Goldman family of Scarsdale, New York. She enjoyed a long and close friendship with their daughter, Anne, who was nine years old when Bea came to work for the family.

Beatrice leaves to cherish her loving memory a devoted husband of 64 years, Sam Green; her "special" sister-in-law, Florence Greene; a special friend Hydrum Weaver, and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.

Bea was predeceased by her parents and her sister Frances "Cookie" Foster.
