Obituary for James T. "J.T." Robertson

James Thomas Robertson, (JT ) was born on December 25, 1924 to the late Bertha and Dewey Robertson in McCormack County, South Carolina. He was the baby boy of the family. In the early 1940s the family migrated and settled in Richmond VA.

James joined the Navy in 1942 and served during WWII. He was stationed in Melbourne Florida and was a cook. After serving James returned to Richmond and began working at Richmond Ford Motor Company. This was the beginning of his love for Cars. He was known to always keep a new shiny car.

James met his "darling" Luvinia Woodson in Amelia County VA. He moved to join her in White Plains, NY in 1952. They were married on September 10, 1960. James was blessed with two amazing daughters, Deborah and Linda. He was a devoted husband and father to his girls.

He and Luvinia joined Bethel Baptist Church in the 1956 and were dedicated members.

James worked at General Motors Corporation in Tarrytown, NY for 36 years. He had a strong work ethic and was awarded for perfect attendance. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.

James was a humble, patient and kind man. He was always willing to help you if he could. He raised his daughters to be strong, confident and independent women. James loved to repair and tinker on cars. He loved baseball and was a Met fan. He loved watching Westerns on TV. He was a music lover and especially enjoyed jazz. He enjoyed traveling and always took his family on a yearly vacation. James loved going to the casino and enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City and Las Vegas.

James was called home on December 4, 2015. He is predeceased by his loving wife Luvinia, Parents, and siblings Emerson Robertson, and Florence Robertson

James also leaves to cherish his memory, daughters Deborah Brown of Pineville, NJ, & Linda Robertson of Tarrytown, NY; Grandchildren, Charmaine Parker, Antony Rose, Jamika Rose and Jamie Rose; 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandson; Godson, Craig Jones; Devoted Sister and Brother in laws Gladys and John Jones, Sallie and Harry Brown and Richard Woodson; Loving first cousins Ida Grigsby, Barbara Ann Duncan, Bill Tompkins and Phyllis Taylor; A host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
