Obituary for Ina V. Forrester

Ina V. Forrester
Ina Veronica Butler-Forrester, the daughter of Gladys Williams and Vivian Butler, was born on February 7, 1925 in Manchester, Jamaica, West Indies.

Ina graduated Secondary School in Jamaica and operated her own Variety Store. Ina was an ambitious business woman who believed in business before pleasure. Ina was known as very dedicated, friendly, kind and outgoing. She was very generous to her community and always believed that she could make a difference.

While living in Jamaica, Ina gave birth to her only child, Winston George Cole. Winston was her pride and joy. In the early 1970’s, Ina migrated to the US. She married Stanley Forrester who passed away in the 1980’s. Ina never remarried and decided to live her life fully for the Lord.

Ina was an extremely hard worker. She refused to take time off from work. She was a dedicated and dependable worker to the children at Cardinal McCloskey, where she worked for over 40 years. Ina retired in her late 70’s. Ina lived a full and happy life. She was one of the biggest farmers in White Plains. She had great satisfaction giving away her crops to all who passed by and wanted whatever was in season.

In the late 1980’s, Ina was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Even though her health deteriorated, she lived at home with help. Ina was happy even in pain and would let all around her laugh.

On January 31, 2015, Ina passed away peacefully in the White Plains Hospital Center, surrounded by her son and family.
Ina is survived by her only son, Winston, 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

May her sweet soul rest in peace!
