Obituary for Rivers G. "Gary" Wright

Rivers Garrison Wright Jr. was born on August 8, 1946 in New York City to Rivers and Myrtle Wright. He was better known as Gary (RG).

Gary graduated from Aviation High School in Queens, NY. He served with the US Marine Corp. in Vietnam. Gary was a police officer for 30 years and retired in the year 2000 from the New York Police Department . Gary was a member of Holyrood Church in New York City.

Gary enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises with family and visiting islands in the Caribbean and other destinations. Gary loved to dance, play sports and watch old black and white movies on AMC channel. One of Gary’s special chores that he loved was chauffeuring his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife Mildred; one son, Tarik, one daughter-in-law Nichole; three grandchildren, D’Aisa, Renelle and Anyla. He also leaves a brother Wayne (Vickie) of Carlsbad, CA, two sisters, Glenda (Nathaniel) and Velva Wright both of Willingboro, NJ, and many nieces and nephews who he loved and cherished dearly.

Gary is predeceased by son Zahir Jahan and grandson Zahir Jahan, Jr.
