Obituary for Dorothy Ann Peters

Dorothy Ann Peters
DOROTHY PETERS (Registered Nurse)

Dorothy Ann Peters, aged 72, passed peacefully on July 29, 2014 at 4:18pm at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, NY, after a 7 month battle with pancreatic cancer. By her side was her daughter, Andrea Robinson and granddaughter, Tatiana Flowers. Both were consistent supporters to Dorothy during this time.

Dorothy Peters was born February 7, 1942 in Kingston, Jamaica, the daughter of Vincent Peters and Nora Sanguinetti. At the age of 16, Dorothy moved to Nottingham, England to attend a training program, in order to become a Registered Nurse. During this time, she met Vincent Robinson, the father of her two living children, Marlon Anthony Robinson, residing in Liverpool, England and Andrea Marie Robinson, White Plains, NY. Dorothy migrated to the United States in 1973 where she worked as a Registered Nurse for White Plains Hospital and St. Agnes Hospital for more than 20 years. In 2007, Dorothy retired after working private duty for 9 years for Joan Israel in Scarsdale, NY. Dorothy was instrumental in Joan’s relocation to Boulder, Colorado to be closer to her children, Rob, Diane and Lynn Israel. This was Dorothy’s second family.

Anyone who knows Dorothy will vouch that she thoroughly enjoyed taking care of others, hence the reason she trained to become a Nurse. Outside of her professional desires, Dorothy continuously gave back to many individuals in need. In a nutshell, this is who she was. Dorothy was very active within her community. Not only was she a parishioner at Grace Episcopal Church in White Plains for more than 30 years, but she was also a member of many of their committees. She really enjoyed spending time with her friends at Grace Church.

Dorothy is survived by her brothers Michael and Patrick Peters, her son, Marlon Robinson, daughter, Andrea Robinson, grandchildren in England, Sean, Sarah, Antonee and Holly Robinson, great grandson Kellen Robinson and her granddaughter from White Plains, Tatiana Flowers, who she absolutely adored. Tatiana was her shining star.

Even though Dorothy will be missed by so many individuals, she is finally now at peace!

Each year a senior from WP High School will be the recipient of the Dorothy Ann Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund for a student going to college for nursing, therefore in lieu of flowers it would be greatly appreciated if donations can be made out to WP CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT. In the memo line please indicate name of the scholarship fund: Dorothy Ann Peters Memorial Scholarship. Checks can be forwarded ATTN: Andrea Robinson, c/o 21 Locust Ave, Rye, NY 10580.

Donations may also be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Cancer Support Team and/or Gilda’s Club of Westchester. All organizations were very supportive during Dorothy’s battle with cancer. Her family thanks them profusely!
