Obituary for Loretta M. Johnson (Boston)

Loretta M.  Johnson (Boston)
Loretta M. Johnson, one of nine children, was born on April 19th, 1916, to the late James E. and Sullie Hamlin Boston in Waverly, Virginia. The family relocated to New York in 1927 and established roots in the Town of Greenburgh.

Loretta graduated from Greenburgh School District #8 in 1936.

On July 19th, 1942 she was united in holy matrimony to William N. Johnson.

Loretta was employed as a Tour Guide and stenographer at Readers Digest for 35 years, retiring in 1981.

Loretta was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church since 1933. She also served as a member of the Interfaith Council of White Plains, the Live Together Club affiliated with the Theodore Young Community Center and a member of the Sophisticated Kings and Queens.

Loretta was predeceased by her husband William N. Johnson, a sister Hazel Moses, and three brothers; James, Charles and Clyde Boston. Surviving and cherishing her memories are sisters Zola Dunn of Roselle, NJ and Myrtle Dawson of White Plains, NY; brothers Russell (Doris) Boston of White Plains and Donald (Marjorie) Boston of Mount Vernon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
